Meicxoleaks is a mexican version of pub leaks
It was set up as a coventure between 8 media organisations
This gave strengt in numbers, making it harder to attack one media orginasion by the gouverment
They operated under a code of cooperation.
The platform allows for completely anonymous communication between whistleblowers and journalist.
Its brand new and has about 200 submissions and now we wait.
Why mexico?
Because jouralist are fired by their media organisation if they investigate problems.
Because their was a lot of informaiion availeble that journalist did not want to touch becouse of the danger
Bloggers started to disclose this informaiton and some where even killed becouse of this.
This created a good situation for a platform that is anonymous and safe.
For both journalist and whistleblowers
Questions for this platform if it would work in other places?
What if a whistleblower is not reporting something that is not illegal but immoral?
Are there enough journalist that would use it and are they technolicly skilled enough?
There is a mismatch between technologic savy journalists and investigative experianced enough journalist.
Young tech savy journalist should be matched to old experienced ones.
