The Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (European University Institute) is planning to develop an app for journalists in Europe that will help them to learn about their rights, sources and means of threats, and provide them with contacts for support. The aim is to merge existing datasets and give journalists easy access to this information.
These are the datasets we planning to use for the app:
1. The data about the legal framework in the areas of freedom of information, defamation, privacy and protection of sources originating from CMPF's Media Pluralism Monitor 2016 (forthcoming data covering EU:28, Montenegro and Turkey): http://cmpf.eui.eu/News/All/1601MPM2016Grant.aspx
2. Council of Europe's platform with data on threats to journalists:
http://www.coe.int/en/web/media-freedom/home
3. A directory of contacts for legal, financial, advocacy support for journalists developed jointly with the CEU: http://journalism.cmpf.eui.eu/legal-support-database/
